The workshop on "Political Participation in Africa"
sponsored by the American Political Science Association
(Apsa) and organised by the West African Research Center
(Warc) opened today in Dakar. The objective of the workshop,
scheduled to run from July 6 to July 27, is to discuss
the concept of political participation in its broad
meaning and implications since it not only involves
politicians but also labor union leaders and members,
members of the civil society as well as ordinary citizens
in their efforts to seek full involvement and responsibility
in the formation of national governments and the implementation
of national policies.
